Photography Retreat in Wine Country

Join me for an unforgettable all-inclusive two-day photography retreat where you can enhance your skills, capture breathtaking images of horses, and unwind in the beautiful setting of Wine Country. Your accommodation at a stunning vineyard home and our four photography sessions across two different locations will provide the perfect backdrop. Host Kent Wright will showcase his gorgeous stallions for us to photograph, and we'll also have the opportunity to venture into the mountains to photograph a herd of mares and yearlings. Tretreat includes accommodation, continental breakfast, and lunch. You are responsible for your dinner arrangements; however, there are some wonderful restaurants in Walla Walla. The accommodation has 3 individual bedrooms and one bedroom that sleeps 2. The shared bedroom is great if you are coming to the retreat with a friend. The exact location will be given to you once you register for the retreat.
For those interested I will be teaching some basic editing in Lightroom and Photoshop during our lunch break, participants are welcome to stay for this session. To actively engage in the editing process, please ensure you have your laptop equipped with Lightroom CC. Additionally, bring along a card reader for image downloads, a mouse, and consider an optional external hard drive for additional storage convenience.
For this retreat, you will be photographing a selection of Kents Lusitano stallions, which are cremello, bay, and buckskin. We will be doing our sessions in the Vineyard and surrounding area with 2 models, these will be styled, one of the sessions with just the horses, and one session in the mountains with a herd of Lusitano mares and yearlings.

My workshops are aimed at helping you enhance your creative process and acquainting you with a beautiful way of photographing horses. They are open to all levels of photographers. To make the most of my workshops, you should have a basic understanding of your camera and its various functions. Experience being around horses is not necessary and there will be a safety demonstration before we begin.

I recommend you bring a DSLR or Mirrorless removable lens camera system. My preferred lenses for this purpose are the 70-200 2.8 and an 85mm f/1.4. Wide-angle lenses, such as 35mm or 50mm, are better suited for other types of photography, and not the best choice for equine portrait photography. If you do not own a 70-200mm lens, there are several options available for renting lenses. One such website is lensrentals.com, which I frequently use. However, there are other options available as well.

Join me at a 2 Day photography workshop in Grayland, WA.

Join me for a 2-day photography workshop specifically designed for those who wish to improve their photography skills and capture stunning images of Lusitanos on the Washington Coast. Cavalia trainer, Juliette Cimitiere and her horses will be your models. Their ability to rear, bow, Spanish walk, and lie down on command will provide you with opportunities to get the shots of a lifetime!!

The workshop will take place in Grayland Washington and we will have 3 separate photo sessions. On Friday late afternoon, we will photograph Juliette Roman Riding her horses. Saturday will be broken down into 2 sessions, a morning session, and a late afternoon/early evening session. You will have the opportunity to photograph her horses rearing, doing the Spanish walk, running in and out of the waves, Juliette riding brideless, and some posed shots in the dunes.
